Unofficial Verizon Samsung Omnia Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM now Available

Those who own a Verizon Samsung Omnia i910 and already want some Windows Mobile 6.5 goodness will be delighted to hear that there’s a ROM now available for you to try out.

omnia-wm65This isn’t official, of course, and you should proceed at your own risk. With that being said, you can find the files and instructions on how to go about flashing your Samsung Omnia here. It’s a custom ROM so some of the Verizon apps such as VZ Navigator, VZ AppZone, Digital Frame, Shozu, and Silver Inbox have been removed by the creator of this ROM. It does, however, include some other useful apps such as Maps, Youtube player, and Windows Mobile 6.5 Facebook app just to name a few in lieu of those that have been removed.

There have been reports of some problems arising when using a Windows Vista machine, but the process seems to work flawlessly on Windows XP. So if you’ve been itching to upgrade you Verizon Omnia to Windows Mobile 6.5, then by all means, go ahead and try this custom ROM out. We hear its pretty sweet, but we’d surely wouldn’t mind hearing your two cents on the matter once you get to try it out for yourself.
