This DVD drive was made for just £15 (that's about $25).As usual, these mods should only be attempted if you know what you are doing.

Remember those Satio issues we told you about last week? Well it looks like Sony Ericsson has a firmware fix for them and the Satio should be available for sale again in the very near future. Sony Ericsson acknowledged the fact that the Satio’s power-down problem can’t be fixed over the air and a new firmware is definitely needed. On the other hand the Aino is still being sold in SonyStyle stores in the USA so you could simply get that one in case the Satio doesn’t become available very soon. I...

"The Sony Ericsson Satio has been pulled from sale in the UK at the Carphone Warehouse. The reason for the recall is being cited as software issues. an all too common problem for Sony Ericsson handsets over the past year or two. Interestingly though Carphone Warehouse is continuing to sell the silver variant of the handset, it's only the black version that has been withdrawn from sale. There is as yet no word of whether this recall affects other retailers in the UK or indeed other retail...

Canon releases Service Notice on EOS 7D dSLR

Canon releases a Service Notice for the EOS 7D DSLR. It has turned out that images captured by continuous shooting, under certain conditions may show barely noticeable traces of the immediately preceding frame. This problem is not noticeable in an image with optimal exposure, but becomes more noticeable if a retouching process such as level compensation is applied to emphasize the image. Canon is currently investigating the problem and will release a firmware update to address this issue...
