Sony Ericsson X1 NOT To Receive WinMo 6.5 Upgrade

Yesterday’s news that Satio was being pulled from sale by one of the UK’s largest retailer’s wasn’t good news for Sony Ericsson. Well Sony Ericsson aren’t helping themselves with the announcement that the X1, one of the company’s most hyped handsets at launch, will not be getting an upgrade to WinMo 6.5. Read thata again, it will NOT be getting an upgrade to WinMo 6.5. Why? That’s a very good question, the only answer that immediately springs to mind is that they don’t want it to encroach on sales of the newer X2, which does run 6.5. It seems like an odd move though given that the X1 still sports modern hardware and features and is still officially on sale in many countries. It wouldn’t be a major task to offer the upgrade, but whatever the reason may be Sony Ericsson have decided that they simply aren’t going to. You can almost hear the sound of a thousand hackers rubbing their hands in anticipation …” via mobile-review.com
