Sony digital cameras with back-illuminated sensor

Sony introduces two new Cyber-shot cameras, the DSC-TX1 and DSC-WX1. that employ Sony’s new “Exmor R” back illuminated CMOS sensor technology to improve shooting in low-light. These Back illuminated sensors, first introduced in May 2008 by Omnivision and soon thereafter by Sony, have reversed the circuitry and the light sensitive photo-diodes allowing them to gather more light. The TX1 – in silver, gray, pink and blue – will be available in September for about $380; the WX1 – in black – in October for about $350…
