Samsung i899 is official in China, Android included

“When the Samsung i899 first appeared alongside the Samsung i6500U Saturn, I thought it’s a Windows Mobile smartphone. Well, I was wrong. The i899 is actually an Android smartphone, and this is confirmed by Samsung China’s official website. Samsung i899 is made for China Telecom (the third largest Chinese mobile carrier) and comes with CDMA / EV-DO connectivity. We don’t know what version of Android the Samsung i899 uses, but we know most of its specs and features. These include:

  • 3.2 inch AMOLED resistive touchscreen display with 320 x 480 pixels
  • Wi-Fi / WAPI
  • GPS
  • DivX support
  • 3.5mm headset jack
  • 3.2MP camera with autofocus and flash
  • 512MB of internal memory
  • 800 MHz processor
  • MicroSD card support (up to 32GB)
  • 1440 mAh battery
  • 116.5 x 56.4 x 12.8 mm
  • 126 grams” via unwiredview.com
