Palm has announced a new open beta development application called Ares. The dev app is completely browser based and allows the development of apps for web OS devices.

The IEEE has started working on a new cell phone battery standard. The standard is called IEEE Std 1725 and the first meeting on the topic will be held in February.

A geek known as tnkgrl has got hands on the new Google Nexus One smartphone and given up some details of the device. It’s thin, uses a 4GB microSD card, has a 1400mAh battery, has an OLED screen, works on T-Mobile in the US, and it will have no 3G an AT&T.
