Google is an internet search technology company. It hosts and develops many internet-based services and products and generate billions of dollars in profits primarily from advertising through its AdWords program.

They began as a research project in 1996, and later became an online search engine. Google began selling advertisements associated with search keywords in year 2000. In year 2007 Google entered the mobile-phone market. They put their search and applications on mobile phones. With the development of Android, an operating system for mobile phones and computers, Google expect to increase their revenues in a huge percentage.
Google was tagged as a one-trick pony or as a one-hit wonder, maybe because they mostly get all their profits from one method, which is blending in ads and in-search listings. Google admits that most of their profits are coming from that method but they don’t mind all those criticisms. Being on top and making sure they stay on top when it comes to search engine is what matters most. It is an advertising business that is rapidly growing everyday, and having a one-trick pony like that is the best one-trick pony you could ask for.

They are said to be acquiring a greater share of the online display-ad market. At first they are in quest of developing a social networking service that could compete with other big social networking site like Facebook. Now Google is expecting to earn $10 billion or more per year in the mobile device business. They are handing the Android OS to gadget producers for free.
They are doing this to increase the handset activations per day, which include internet browsing and mapping. With the growing rate of Android user everyday they expect $10 per user per year, with a billion users around the globe that equates to an earning of $10 billion per year. They may earn this profit from selling an access to digital content from news papers.
It is interesting to see if they would succeed. Having a browsing and mapping system on your mobile phone is really a good idea. Reading and searching some news articles from a mobile device is very convenient. You paying $10 a year for these privileges are not too bad, don’t you think?
