Now here’s an interesting deal for those of you who are Verizon Wireless customers or thinking about moving to the mobile carrier. Verizon is currently offering a deal where you can buy a BlackBerry Storm2 and get a select BlackBerry or Mobile Broadband Device for free. What makes this interesting of course is the selection of Mobile Broadband Devices you can choose from should you not be interested in a second BlackBerry handset. Those of you looking to get a new Mobile Broadband-enabled...

Samsung netbook with AMOLED display spotted

Above is a demo Samsung netbook spotted by the folks of Akihabara News and utilizing a 7 inch AMOLED display created by the folks in the Samsung Mobile Display group. The 16:9 display has a resolution of 1024 x 600 with a brightness of 300 cd/m2 and an insane contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. Unfortunately given the price of AMOLED displays, it’s highly unlikely you’ll actually see one on a netbook anytime soon – at least not one the regular consumer could easily afford. [Check it out]

ComputerWorld reviews dual-booting Acer Aspire One D250

I came across another review (albeit a short one) of the new dual-booting Acer Aspire One D250 netbook featuring both Windows XP and the Android OS – this time from the folks at ComputerWorld here on their website.  The focus of the review is of course mostly on Android since if you are to remove the OS, this is otherwise a nondescript netbook that looks like any other netbook out there. Here’s an excerpt from the review: “Another big disappointment for me is the lack of useful software out...

Phone Magazine top picks: Sprint blocks phone as modem, DROID pre-order, DROID Eris

Word has come in today according to a poster over at the Sprint forums that Sprint has blocked the use of smartphones as 3G modems after years of allowing the practice. One user is very angry and plans to sue Sprint over the issue. Best Buy is now taking pre-orders for the hot Motorola DROID smartphone. The best news is that Best Buy is giving the $100 mail-in rebate as an instant discount. That means you can walk in and get the DROID for $199.99. The Verizon HTC Droid Eris has been spied agai...

Motorola DROID review at engadget!

"The DROID is an odd and beautiful device. Looking at the hardware from a purely philosophical standpoint, the ID of the phone seems staunchly defiant. Instead of taking its cues (and lines) from current contenders in the smartphone space, the DROID is all hard edges and angular slopes. The construction is a mix of plastic and metal, and the phone has a solid, expensive heft to it. Couple that weight with soft touch materials and gold highlights, and the effect is somewhere halfway between a Ve...

BlackBerry Storm2 Review at SlashGear!

"Our remaining doubts concern how well the Storm2 stands as a prosumer device compared to its flourishing Android, iPhone and webOS rivals. Each has areas in which they better the Storm2, whether in usability, responsiveness, browser experience or media playback, but the BlackBerry does put up a decent fight. The Storm2 falls short of delivering a knockout blow, but it’s no longer undermined by its own “unique features”. RIM has certainly done enough for the Storm2 to warrant a place on your ...

Sony Ericsson Satio review Shooter by vocation

"Sony Ericsson have long ago shown that they are not afraid of any challenge, producing handsets that have claimed a top spot on the market. There are still plenty of fans from those good old days that would love to see another market-leading device thrown their way.A look at what's between the XPERIA X1 and the Satio is enough to tell you what Sony Ericsson have been up to for the past year. A top-dog Cybershot (C905) and an all-round Walkman (W995) were both compelling enough but none w...
